Drone Roof Inspection in Zurich
A no-scaffolding, no-ladder roof inspection from a certified drone pilot. We capture 4K imagery and a thermal scan of the entire roof in under 30 minutes on site, then deliver a written report with marked-up photos, prioritised findings, and pricing for any recommended work within 48 hours.
Every project follows a clear inspection, quote, delivery, and quality review path so you know what is happening before work begins.
Step 1
Book the inspection — 5-minute call
Tell us the address, roof type, and reason for the inspection (pre-purchase, post-storm, insurance claim, routine check). We confirm price upfront — CHF 100 for a typical 3-bed semi, CHF 150 for detached or larger, custom quote for commercial. We'll have a slot booked inside 5 working days, often same-week.
Step 2
Pre-flight planning and airspace check
Before the visit our pilot reviews your address against Swiss Aviation Authority restricted-airspace maps. Most of Zurich is uncontrolled airspace, but properties near Zurich Airport, military zones, or events may need a specific permission. We handle that admin so you don't have to.
Step 3
On-site capture — typically 30 minutes
Our certified pilot arrives with a DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise (or Matrice 30T for larger commercial roofs). We fly a planned grid pattern at 30-100 feet capturing 4K stills and a continuous thermal scan. The pilot stays on the ground throughout — no roof access, no ladder work, no risk to your home or our team.
Step 4
Image processing and roof analysis
Back in the office, the same pilot who flew the inspection reviews every frame against a 47-point Zurich-specific checklist (slipped slates, cracked tiles, perished mortar, lead-flashing condition, moss coverage, valley health, ridge alignment, chimney condition, gutter overflow markers, satellite/aerial mounting integrity). Anything flagged gets marked up in the photos.
Step 5
Written report inside 48 hours
You receive a PDF report with a colour-coded summary (immediate / within 12 months / monitor), thumbnail photos of every flagged issue, a thermal-scan overlay showing moisture or insulation defects, and itemised pricing for any recommended work. We don't pressure-sell — the report is the deliverable, repair work is your call.
Step 6
Optional follow-up — repair, claim support, or annual review
If the report flags work, we can quote and schedule it directly. For insurance claims, the same report meets the documentation standard required by AIB Insurance, FBD, Allianz Switzerland, Aviva, AXA and Liberty. For property purchases, the report is suitable as-is for sharing with your solicitor or surveyor.

Years helping Zurich homes and businesses with practical roofing work
02 - Why Dachdecker Zurich
Why choose Dachdecker Zurich AG for Drone Roof Inspection?
Most Zurich homeowners are flying blind on the condition of their roof — the only visible signs are leaks, slipped slates, or moss-covered tiles, all of which appear long after the underlying problem started. A drone inspection lets us look at every square metre of your roof without scaffolding or ladders, identify problems while they're still cheap to fix, and give you a documented baseline you can refer back to in five years. Useful before buying a property, after a storm, when an insurance claim needs evidence, or as part of routine maintenance every 3-5 years.

4K aerial imagery — every roof slope, ridge, valley and chimney
What to expect during your drone roof inspection project.
We start with a practical assessment, explain the condition of the roof, and agree the right scope before work begins. You get updates during the job, daily site care where needed, and a final review before handover.
Timing depends on access, weather, materials, and the scale of the work, but our team keeps the process straightforward from first call to completion.
01How much does a drone roof inspection cost in Zurich?
CHF 100 for a standard 3-bed semi-detached roof. CHF 150 for detached, dormer, or larger residential. Commercial roofs are quoted by floor area — typical light-industrial unit (under 1,000 sqm) lands in the CHF 250-CHF 500 range. There is no hidden travel charge anywhere in Kanton Zurich or near-border surroundings; the price you are quoted is the price you pay.
02Will the report be accepted by my insurance company?
Yes. We have provided insurance-grade drone reports to AIB Insurance, FBD, Allianz Switzerland, Aviva, AXA, Liberty Insurance and several brokers across Munster. The report includes timestamped 4K imagery, thermal-scan overlays, a flight log, and our pilot certification number — everything an Swiss loss adjuster needs to process a storm-damage or accidental-damage claim.
03When is a drone inspection better than someone climbing on the roof?
For most situations a drone gives more comprehensive coverage in less time, with no risk to anyone. We see every square metre of every slope, including hidden valleys, behind chimney stacks, and dormer junctions that are awkward from a ladder. The exception is when something specifically needs to be physically tested (loose ridge tile, suspect timber underfoot) — then we follow up the drone inspection with targeted ladder access at no extra cost.
04What weather stops you flying?
Heavy rain, sustained wind above 20 mph, fog reducing visibility below 30 metres, or anything below 0°C. The DJI Mavic 3 we use is rated for light drizzle but our policy is to reschedule rather than risk an unstable flight. Zurich's weather windows usually let us reschedule inside 48 hours — we do not charge a rescheduling fee.
05Can drones see inside the roof or only the outside?
The drone sees the outside. The thermal camera sees temperature differences caused by moisture inside the structure or missing insulation under the tiles, so we can infer a lot about internal condition without entering the loft. For confirmation of internal-only issues (rotted timber, attic condensation, breather membrane condition) we follow up with a quick attic visit during the same callout.
06How long do you keep the footage?
Five years on encrypted storage. You can request a copy of the raw 4K files or thermal scan at any point in that window for your records, an insurance claim, or a property sale. After 5 years files are deleted unless you opt to extend retention.
